What is Compression Therapy?
Compression therapy is an important part of treating conditions like lymphedema, lipedema, and vein-related issues. It involves wearing specially designed garments or bandages that gently apply pressure to certain parts of the body. This pressure helps move built-up fluid out of the tissues, supports healthy blood flow, and reduces pressure in the veins. Compression can also help calm inflammation and improve healing in areas where poor circulation has caused wounds. By easing the strain on the skin and tissues, it allows oxygen and nutrients to reach the area more effectively, helping the body feel and function better.

We support patients through a variety of conditions and treatment stages, including:
-
Lymphedema (upper and lower extremity)
-
Post-mastectomy and breast reconstruction
-
Post-lumpectomy or breast-conserving surgery
-
Lipedema management
-
Post-operative swelling and scar care
-
Radiation therapy recovery
-
Venous insufficiency and chronic edema

Can I still get items if my surgery was years ago?Yes! Even long-time survivors can get new bras, breast forms, or fittings. Most insurance plans still offer coverage.
-
When can I be fitted for a prosthesis or mastectomy bra? After your doctor gives the okay—usually around 6–8 weeks post-surgery. We’ll guide you through the right timing and options.
-
What’s the difference between standard and custom breast forms?Standard forms come in set sizes. Custom forms are made just for you—matched to your shape, skin tone, and scar pattern for the most natural fit.
-
Will my insurance cover bras or prostheses? In most cases, yes. We verify your benefits and help with all the paperwork. A prescription is usually required, but we can work with your doctor to get it.
-
What if I do not have insurance or can not afford my deductible or cost share? We can help! We work closely with Alala Cancer Society who supports people who have had a cancer diagnosis. Click here to visit our Alala Cancer Society page or give us a call at 803-569-4373.
-
How many bras or forms can I get through insurance? Most plans cover 4–6 bras per year and one breast form every 1–2 years. Coverage can vary, but we’ll walk you through what’s included.
-
Do I need a new fitting if my body changes?Yes. If you gain or lose weight, or it's been over a year, we recommend a re-fitting to ensure comfort and proper support.
-
Is the fitting private?Yes. All fittings are done in a calm, private setting by certified, compassionate professionals.
-
Can I bring someone with me?Of course! You’re welcome to bring a friend, family member, or support person.
